Angel of Death Calls For Even More Slaughter in Ukraine

Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs Victoria Nuland, is eternally remembered across Eurasia to this day as the Cookie Lady.

Nuland walked the streets of Kiev in February 2014 during the Maidan Coup. She literally handed out cookies to violent demonstrators who were threatening democratically elected President Viktor Yanukovych and his family with murder if they did not flee for their lives.

Nuland was a senior member of President Barack Obama’s administration at the time. She was Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian affairs at the State Department. Yet this behavior never got her impeached. Republicans and Democrats alike in the US Congress universally supported her weird, revolutionary, unprecedented and outrageous antics.

Obama, lazy and feckless as usual, didn’t care. Neither did his exceedingly dim secretary of state John Kerry, a man who while at Yale contrived to get even lower academic grades than George W. Bush. (“These are your princes, O America!”)

Now Nuland has returned to her old stomping ground where she put her usual seal of micromanaging approval on the toppling of General Valerii Zaluzhnyi, Ukraine’s bullish, brainless armed forces commander and his replacement with General Oleksandr Syrskyi, as if it will make any difference.

Only two years ago, Zaluzhnyi was hailed throughout the worthless American mainstream media and across Congress as the new Napoleon, a military genius who had somehow stymied, humiliated and outfought the Russian army using cellphones, drones and computers – a typical American fantasy of bloodless, magical, easy high-tech war, Hollywood-style.

Of course, Zaluzhnyi had done no such thing. It was the usual neocon/neoliberal wet dream.

But now, at last Zaluzhnyi is out of favor Inside the Beltway. It took the needless, utterly avoidable deaths of 500,000 Ukrainian boys last year, all killed in the ludicrous rerun of the 1916 Battle of the Somme on the Banks of the Dnieper which I alone predicted at the time in these columns, to do it.

Now Zaluzhnyi has been replaced, by an equally brainless, hapless figure, General Oleksandr Syrskyi, eager to carry out the cynical of unfeeling orders of his US military puppeteers and their manic, delusional masters and mistresses in the Biden administration.

Nuland, along with National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan and her moralistic,100 billion-miles-removed-from-any-reality, disengaged boss Secretary of State Antony Blinken is one of the unholy Trinity at the apex of this particular Pyramid of Powerlessness. Therefore, her softly whispered words in Kiev should have had special weight.

And what was Nuland’s message? In comments never carried in the mainstream US media, she predicted that Ukraine would finally achieve military successes this year and that Russia “is going to get some nice surprises on the battlefield”.

In other words, the endless flow of Ukraine’s remaining men and boys into the needless slaughter of a war for which they are miserably equipped, virtually untrained and forced to stand and fight in the most primitive and barbaric conditions at the direction of Nuland and her fellow armchair strategists in Washington 4,800 miles away will continue. 

America’s puppet rulers and generals in Kiev have got the message: The day before Nuland’s arrival in Kiev, General Kyrylo Budanov, chief of Ukraine’s Main Directorate of Military Intelligence, claimed the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) were currently in “active defense” but in the coming spring, Russia’s ongoing offensive “will be exhausted completely… and I think ours will start.”

As respected Indian international affairs commentator M K Bhadrakumar rightly noted, “The tone of triumphalism is unmistakable, but how far it is rooted in reality, time only can tell.”

Nuland, Blinken, Sullivan and their Punch and Judy puppet pretender-boss, hilarious, “President” Joe Biden have often made such ridiculous threats before against Russia. And what has always been the result? 

Russia has always continued to go from strength to strength. It has opened new markets. It has shrugged off far more stringent economic sanctions than were ever imposed against Nazi Germany or, for that matter, the Soviet Union, The Moscow government has activated and prospered vast new sectors of its agriculture and industry, expanded its oil production and exports and its people remain warm and well fed.

Meanwhile Germany shivers without Russian gas in the winter cold, France is torn apart by race riots and rampant crime in the streets and the British people sink further into despairing and abysmal poverty and social collapse after being deluded into cutting off their last, sane ties to Continental Europe.

It is very clear what Nuland means when she talks about “unpleasant surprises” for Russia. After the latest ludicrous, domestic bankruptcy-generating $61 billion aid package has been steamrollered through Congress, it will be poured to vanish without trace down the black hole of corruption that prances on corrupt American strings in Kiev and imagines itself to be the Ukrainian government.

Under Syrskyi, Zaluzhnyi’s puppet replacement, the mindless offensives against Russia will be renewed and hundreds of thousands more innocent Ukrainians will be slaughtered.

But as far as Blinken, Sullivan and Nuland are concerned, they will all have died in a Good Cause. Because their bloody, terrified needless deaths will be used as a rallying cry to yet again manipulate, panic and stampede the American people into approving the direct use of US Army and Air Force power against Russia: Surely this will disintegrate Vladimir Putin’s “Evil Empire” once and for all?

Well, No: It won’t.

Backed by and coordinating with China and Iran, the Russian armed forces, renewed, sharpened and at increasing levels of efficiency after their two years of serious military operations in Ukraine, are more than a match for anything the US and NATO can throw against them.

All the arms and ammunition reserves of the United States and its NATO allies have been thrown away on the uniformly disastrous Ukrainian military operations of the past five years and it will take at least five years at the most optimistic projection – in reality, Never – to replenish them.

US military planners have not even put a possible all-out, no-holds-barred world war with Russia at the top of their contingency planning. The watchword that has consumed the Pentagon for at least the past seven years has been “China is the pacing threat.”

Like the most witless, and meaningless mantras ever mindlessly repeated by any brain machine-washed Bible Cult Fundamentalist Crackpot Moron, this single five-word sentence drives out all possibilities for rational planning, preparation and coherent thought.

And so, the broad wide road to global war and the final ruin and destruction of the United States beckons.

Remember, you had good warning, it was the Angel of Death who told you so herself.
