What Has Ukraine Really “Given” America?

What has "Ukraine" REALLY "given" America in its now two-year war against Russia, to use the asinine conception of David A. Super writing in "The Hill" on April 15? Or to give that once-credible publication, the more accurate title 'Soviet Pravda West" - always guaranteed to cheer-lead the latest bloody, shameful inanity of the US government and Tame Congress of the Day.

The total amount of US aid provided to Ukraine since the current war began in February 2022 amounts to $75 billion, according to the Kiel Institute for the World Economy in Germany. And the Biden administration is still trying to push through a follow up package of $61 billion more. That is a lot of aid. What kind of deal have the American people got for it?

According to Super, among the many other invaluable services that “Ukraine” has “given’ the United States and the American people in the current war, “Ukrainians are discovering first-hand how sound our investments have been …HIMARS rockets, Javelin anti-tank missiles and Bradley Fighting Vehicles have all performed admirably.”

One may indeed then venture to ask, if all those scores of billions of dollars of US-provided weapons systems, not to mention the thousands of military advisers the United States has poured into Kiev over the past decade, have all performed so “admirably” (a pompous, 18th century Winston Churchill-style weasel word to cover the needless bloodbaths of the innocent), then why are half a million Ukrainian brave young men dead?

Clearly Russia has discovered that its weapon systems have performed much more “admirably” than America’s and NATO’s. Is this one of the “gifts” that “Ukraine” has given us?

“Ukraine” or rather its awful puppet regime – now hated and despised by at least 95 percent of the actual, real, suffering Ukrainian people – has, rather, given Russia invaluable experience in how to counter and destroy the most modern and supposedly formidable US weapon systems sent to it.

These range from F-16 Fighting Falcon air superiority combat fighters to HIMARS multiple rocket remote fires artillery systems as well Germany’s previously respected and feared but now universally despised Leopard Main Battle Tanks.

“Ukraine,” or rather the regime of “President” Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the capering, ingratiating, mock-heroic television clown who truly never left his First True Calling, has wasted and exhausted the US munitions base, especially for Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) for reconnaissance and weapons deployment platforms, and the ammunition for US -supplied 155mm heavy artillery howitzers.

Zelenskyy’s joke generals have wasted all that ammunition – and the infinitely more precious lives of half a million young Ukrainian soldiers – so badly that, with the entire current US industrial base, it is going to take at least five years to replenish them,

Far from draining Russia dry, it has motivated the Russian people to renew and revitalize their own agriculture, food processing and military-industrial base, backed by China and financed by lucrative oil and gas export deals with China, India and much of the rest of the world, along with increasing oil production and financial cooperation with both Iran and Saudi Arabia. With all of them as your friends, who cares if the sinking and pathetic United States and United Kingdom flaunt themselves as your enemies?

Far from draining Russia dry and bleeding it of its young manhood – a contemptible and morally repulsive “goal” so beloved by Senators Lindsay Graham, Richard Blumenthal and their neocon and neoliberal friends – the war has seen a maximum of 83,000 Russian fatalities which would be sustainable in a population of 140 to 150 million. In fact, the most recent sober independent figures put Russian military fatalities as low as 17,000. It is not Russia that has been drained dry by this contemptible war. It is the poor Ukrainian people instead.

We should also note that Russian military veterans are not suffering from the same appalling plague of post-combat and post-service suicides that has swept the US armed forces since the supposedly golden age of President George H.W. Bush and his endless, witless” open-ended, amorphous ” Global War on Terror ” (GWOT – Literally “Gee, What!???)

The reasons for this difference are very clear. Russia’s government and people do not shamefully sweep their combat veterans under the rug or scapegoat them for war crimes real or imagined.

The war in Ukraine is clearly seen by the Russian people as a whole as a necessary, unavoidable war for national survival, in striking contrast to the way the 1979-87 Afghan War was seen in the Soviet Union and the Vietnam War was seen by so many Americans in their times as reckless, unnecessary wars that should never have been entered in to or fought in the first place.

Meanwhile, the deindustrialization of Western Europe and North America and the relentless slide of the great Northern Hemisphere democratic nations of both continents into poverty, despair, ruin, bankruptcy and despair continues to accelerate unabated.

These are clearly not the “Gifts” that David Super imagines “Ukraine,” or rather its dictatorial, Nazi-infested, utterly corrupt and contemptibly incompetent “leadership” has “given” the United States, its NATO allies and the American people. But they are the Real “Gifts” of this awful, needless nightmarish war.

Oh Yes, Citizen Super! How Grateful We Should All Be! Not just to Zelenskyy, but also to Lindsay Graham. Richard Blumenthal, Chuck Schumer, Mitch McConnell and the ineffably senile and stupid former Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, who heard the voice of Gawd, not to mention that of Winston Churchill in the mouthing of Zelenskyy the Clown as he pranced and capered in Milady Pelosi’s Chamber before a brain-dead Congress that would have embarrassed the relatively sane Roman Emperors Caligula and Nero by contrast.

Those are the “Gifts” that “Ukraine” has really given America through the brain-rotted leaders who still “rule” the United States of America.

But not, obviously, for much longer.
