A lady called Maria Mateiciuc provides this account of her recent visit to Ukraine, which was then published on the respected and highly credible Johnson's Russia List site:
“I just got back from Ukraine, where I was visiting some friends.
“Everything we have heard about what’s happening in Ukraine is a lie.
The reality is darker, bleaker, and unequivocally hopeless. There is no such thing as Ukraine ‘winning’ this war.
“By their estimates, they have lost over one million of their sons, fathers and husbands, an entire generation is gone.
“… In every village and town, the streets, shops, and restaurants are mostly absent of men.
“The few men who remain are terrified of leaving their homes for fear of being kidnapped into conscription. Some have resorted to begging friends to break their legs to avoid service.
“Army search parties take place early in the morning, when men leave their homes to go to work. They ambush and kidnap them off the streets and within 3-4 hours they get listed in the army and taken away straight to the front lines with minimal or no training at all; it is “a death sentence.”
This rings true: It is Germany in 1945 – Year Zero; Russia after World War I; Britain and France rained dry of all their precious youth by 1917 and 1918.
Ms. Mateiciuc’s description also passes the crucial litmus test of the most accurate and brilliant intelligence analyst I have ever known, the late, legendary Herbert Meyer, who chaired the National Intelligence Council for President Ronald Reagan and Director of Central Intelligence Bill Casey in the early 1980s.
Herb’s great insight, culled from his years as Fortune magazine’s star business reporter was to look, not at abstract figures – those ridiculous “metrics” so beloved of demented idiot US secretaries of defense Robert McNamara during the Vietnam War and Donald Rumsfeld during the occupation of Iraq – but at the realities on the ground.
How are people actually living? What is day-to-day life like on the ground? Is society hanging on, despite inevitable privations? Or is there really widespread destitution, depression and despair?
In 1943, Nazi Germany was still far from finished – but a significant number of its historic cities like Cologne, Rostock and most of all Hamburg had been already burned into blazing rubble and horrific funeral pyres for scores of thousands of their inhabitants.
So it was already clear who was Losing the War.
Maria Mateiciuc’s eyewitness account does not stand alone: It is frighteningly consistent with all the solid intelligence and most sober assessments we are receiving from a wide spectrum of sources on the development of the Ukraine war.
In other words, the reckless and plain evil policies of Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan egged on by Under Secretary of State for Policy Victoria Neuland and then mindlessly rubber stamped by President Joe Biden, Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin – the Pentagon’s Invisible Man and whoever the spectral Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of the day is, have led the poor Ukrainian people to their literal annihilation.
And all this was manipulated and directed and bungled significantly only after the genuine freedom and democracy of the people of Ukraine was stolen from them in the US-backed February 2014 Maidan coup – which of course was carried out in the name of restoring democracy and freedom even as it stole and destroyed them.
George Orwell would have understood.
There are lies, there are damn lies and there are statistics.
Iraq War-era Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld’s beloved drooling idiot metrics were a lie; Vietnam War-era Secretary of Defense Robert McNamara’s sacred body counts were damned lies. These were all lying metrics.
But when Maria Mateiciuc, without the benefit of being a McNamara-Rumsfeld “strategic gee-ni-usss” sees with her own eyes that there are no young or able-bodied men left in Ukraine and the remaining population is shattered by grief: That is a real metric you can and should take to the bank.
Those are the real fruits of the policies of Blinken and Sullivan.
That is the blood on the stained souls of these demented demons they carry blissfully unaware because they are self-satisfied sociopaths: Hannibal Lectors in the mild guise of Mr. Bean. Angels of Thermonuclear Destruction happily cavorting as welcome guests on “Sesame Street.”
A Newly Declassified Memo Sheds Light on America’s Post-Cold War Mistakes
Once in a great while, a diplomatic memorandum—the outline of a proposed change in policy sent from a foreign service officer to his political masters back in Washington—has momentous impact. The most famous of these is George Kennan’s “Long Telegram” of February 1946, which urged “a long-term patient but firm and vigilant containment of Russian expansive tendencies.”

Until the West Stops Lying About Russia and Ukraine, There Will Be No Peace
There was a time when I assumed that the Biden Administration was ignoring the intelligence and insisted on propagating what I call, the Russian Myth aka RM. The theology of RM insists that:
