Last few days we've heard numerous reports about so called, "filtration," which Ukrainian army is doing on the "liberated" territory near Kharkhov. They break into the houses, beat up people, rob them, the abuse turning into more serious violence when they find some signs of sympathy to the Russians. They arrest, torture, and "disappear" teachers, policemen, officials and numerous others who simply continued with their work under Russians.
It is these reports that really shook up Russians who began to grumble about their government’s mistakes and failures.
What do I find in today’s BBC, however? Sure enough: “Accounts of Russian Torture Emerge in Liberated Ukraine.” So it is not the Ukrainians who are doing the torturing. No! It is Ukrainians who find the traces of Russian torturing.
The same issue of the BBC news report goes to another “mirror news” : “Russia Covertly Spent $300m to Meddle Abroad.” But of course! After endless amount of news reporting on Brits and Americans bragging of millions, which they’ve invested to meddle in Ukraine, Russia, and other places, now it is Russia that meddles abroad. Not Ukraine that bullies every politician, every independent agency to provide reports to its liking, it is Russia. Not NATO and Washington using Ukraine to weaken Russia, as they themselves openly acknowledge. It is Russia that wages the war on EU and the “civilized world.”
Don’t get me wrong. I have no doubt that Russians are not saints, that they meddle abroad and some of its soldiers commit violent and abusive acts. But do they really have to commit these acts exactly at the time when we learn that Ukrainian Army and Its NATO allies have committed exactly the same crimes? It does not really happen this way.
Yet, we continue to hear this nonsense again and again. Ukrainians are shelling the Power Plant taken over by Russians. No, it is Russians who are shelling this station. Why would Russians do that? Are they that stupid?
US meddles in the elections all over the world, including within their own country, when both sides are engaged in gerrymandering, fakery, fear-mongering and so on. No, it is Russians who meddle in US election, and not the maniacs and crooks of Democratic and Republican parties.
Europeans refuse to buy Russian gas and come up with one ridiculous scheme upon another just to avoid buying it directly, no it is Russians who are using energy as a blackmail.
This nonsense has been going on for a while, and it is not even funny any more. What’s next on the news agenda? Russians send Ukraine billion of dollars worth of weapons, so that Ukrainians would kill them? Very logical. Russians share with Ukrainians secret satellite information, to let Ukrainians know the weaknesses of its defense. But of course. Stock market collapse as the inflation soars caused by the ill-conceived and ill-timed Western anti-Russian sanctions. No, the economic collapse is caused by Russian war in Ukraine. Same applies to the hunger in Africa. Never mind Europeans starving the continent for centuries. It is Russia and its war.
I wonder if these lies would start having the obverse effect eventually. I already know a lot of people who reverse everything that the west reports, even when it is true. People who are convinced that Stalin was an angel, or that Soviet Socialism was an economic, social and cultural miracle, a pinnacle of creation.
Lies breed cynicism, and cynicism eventually consumers everything that the liar has tried to accomplish through his lies. It is bizarre and discouraging to see current western leaders failing to understand it, after so many examples in front of them.
I guess it is Russians who made them so stupid.
