“The Putin Enigma”

‘When talking about the ‘Putin Enigma’, we would first of all need to clarify exactly what the accepted definition of an enigma is, and does Vladimir Putin, the individual, warrant that rather lofty description, because the connotation here being that this person is something very special, exceptional.

Let us take the Merriam-Webster definition of the word, a scholarly dictionary used the world over. According to Merriam-Webster, a person who is described as an enigma is a bit of a mystery. You never know shat that person is really thinking or what his motives for doing something are. An enigma is not easily understood especially because he has a confusing mixture of qualities that seem to be in opposition to one another.

As I have already alluded to, the title of ‘enigma’ when referring to a person, an individual, suggests that this person is indeed someone very special, someone quite unique when measured against other men. So yes, there is no doubting the fact that in President Putin, we are in the presence of a living, breathing enigma who towers over his contemporaries on the world political stage.

It is no secret that for many years, Washington has plotted the destruction of Russia, breaking her up into small, manageable republics who will offer no threat to US global dominance, and all of those huge reserves of natural resources just waiting to be mopped up by the faceless elites who run the American government. Following the fall of Communism and the dissolution of the USSR, that dream has never been closer to becoming a reality. Gorbachov’s ‘perestroika’ which was followed by Yeltsin’s disastrous Presidency, was putting Russia on a path to social and economic ruin. Yeltsin was Washington’s man in so far as Clinton and his stooges helped him into power and masterminded his election strategy, knowing full well that whilst in power, his ineffectual leadership, blatant nepotism and cronyism, and total mismanagement of the ‘new’, ‘free economy’, was setting up Russia to be a ripe peach there for the plucking.

Enter Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Stories abound in the west about how this lowly former Lieutenant Colonel from the KGB, whom we are led to believe was something of a nonentity stationed in Dresden, an outpost of Communist controlled East Germany, somehow managed to rise to power to become President of Russia. The reality of Vladimir Putin’s somewhat meteoric rise through the political ranks in Russia, however, is very different. Putin’s arrival at the top spot in the Kremlin was no fluke. He was anything but a nonentity, contrary to what western media would have us believe, a misconception that western politicians, especially Washington, were going to live to regret.

President Putin has taken Russia from the edge of the precipice, staring a national disaster in the face, to consolidating the country once again, as a world power, both economically and militarily. Moscow is now regarded as one of the world’s great cities, and the peoples of Russia continue to reap the social benefits of the country’s economic  recovery. Russia is now the fifth largest economy in the world, with expectations to attain even greater growth in both the long and short term.

Reaching this point has not always been a smooth ride, nor at times it could he said not very pretty along the way, but in national and global politics, what country can say that progress, or change of any sort comes without pain? President Putin understands the Russian people. His people. He identifies with his people. One would expect that to be said of any national leader, but it is sadly far from reality. This is precisely why President Putin, today, even in the midst of great global unrest, militarily and politically, his approval rating is staggeringly high. A rating that other leaders can only dream about.

Putin perfectly fits that description of the enigma. His political nous puts him head and shoulders above his adversaries. His ability to preempt, to surprise and even to shock the other players on the political stage provides a cautionary insight into the psyche of President Putin and of the Russian people – the bear is your friend but poke him at your peril!

The rebuilding, and re-establishing of Russia as a global powerhouse will give President Putin almost as much personal satisfaction as his restoration of the pride and confidence of the Russian people in their country.

Today, more than half of the world’s population is looking to President Putin to lead them towards a new beginning – a more equitable partnership of nations based on cooperation and mutual respect. Russia is leading a crusade against the never-ending struggle that is American hegemony, whose primary agenda is the proliferation of chaos and instability throughout the world community, in pursuit of global dominance. This outdated, destructive imperialist style of governance, based upon subjugation and not cooperation, belongs in the history books, and not in the modern world where emerging nations now seek a voice and an equitable partnership in the development of this new, multipolar global order.

There is no doubt that the world is changing, and there is no doubting the fact that another global wide military conflict is now a reality, whereas not so long ago, such a possibility was almost unheard of. Incompetent leaders, nothing but puppets of a criminal cabal of global elites, are blindly leading us towards Armageddon. It is going to take someone very special if we are to avoid this coming catastrophe. We are devoid of leadership.  The world needs an enigmatic figure. I believe that in President Putin, this modern-day enigma, we can be led back into the light”.
